Scotch Plains Teen to Perform in Paper Mill Concert Friday, Saturday

Sasha Zitofsky, 14, is a triple threat – he sings, acts and dances.

Scotch Plains teen Sasha Zitofsky will perform in "New Voices of 2013: Swing Awakening" at the Paper Mill Playhouse on Friday and Saturday.

Zitofsky is triple threat – he sings, acts and dances – and has done years of community, regional and national theater including performances in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular's national tour.

Zitofsky is also seasoned in film and television and filmed small parts on "666 Park Ave" and "Deadly Sins" (ID Discovery) this year. Zitofsky was also the lead in a short film, "Christian Et Christine," which was accepted at the Cannes Film Festival this May. He dances locally with Broadway Dance Theatre in North Plainfield, training several hours a week. Zitofsky is attending the Union County Vocational Technical School's Academy of Performing Arts in the upcoming school year.

Zitofsky was accepted into the Paper Mill's Juniors Plus program and has spent five rigorous weeks in training for the show. From musical theater performance, acting, dance, and improvisation, students participate in a range of classes while also attending guest workshops led by professional actors, directors, and casting agents. The final weeks are devoted to rehearsals for the New Voices Concert, performed annually on the Paper Mill Playhouse stage.

Performances of "New Voices of 2013: Swing Awakening" will be held on Friday, August 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, August 3 at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m.  Single tickets range in price from $25 to $45.

Tickets may be purchased by calling (973) 376-4343, online at www.papermill.org, or visit the Paper Mill Playhouse Box Office at 22 Brookside Drive in Millburn. Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express are accepted.
