Business Changes in Scotch Plains, Fanwood Downtowns

Fanwood's downtown will see a couple of new businesses in the coming months.

A sign announcing the arrival of a Curves Health Club and Fitness Center recently went up at the new retail space across from the Fanwood Train Station. The women's workout facility is currently moving its South Avenue Plainfield location up to Fanwood's downtown.

"The club re-opening should be next month," according to Kathy Carr, a representative of Curves International.

Just down the street at 200 South Avenue, workers can be found busy sprucing up the inside of the former home of Havana Express. Mountainside resident Sean Flannery and Fanwoodian Brian Walter announced in April their plans to open an Irish pub there. The restaurant is slated to open in the summer.

Over in Scotch Plains, Daisy's Restaurant at 1731 E. 2nd Street is temporarily closed. According to signs hanging in the windows of the Dominican restaurant, which opened last fall, the interior is currently undergoing renovations. Daisy's opened in the former home of Steve's Sliders, Dogs and Fries, and many remnants of the former restaurant still remained.

Down on 383 Park Avenue, a "for rent" sign has gone up at the former home of About Face Graphics and Park Avenue Printing. The company's owners have opened a new business, Park Avenue Graphics LLC, at 1812 Front Street in the CEO Suites property. A new tenant is expected to open on Park Avenue in the next few weeks.
