Oh Brian's Owners Start New Venture in Clark

The restaurant won't be exactly like Oh Brian's, but rather a 19th-hole sports bar with some Irish cuisine.

Mexican restaurant Senorita's at Clark's Hyatt Hills Golf Course has just changed management and will now be run by Brian Costello and chef Brian Walter, partners from Fanwood's Oh Brian's Pourhouse (previously "Flannery's").

The restaurant won't be exactly like Oh Brian's, Costello says, but rather a 19th-hole sports bar with some Irish cuisine. The menu will be similar to the Oh Brian's menu, but expanded, says Costello, serving Oh Brian's signatures like the 10-ounce burger, fish-and-chips and shepherd's pie.

Should Clark's Irish pub Molly Maguire's, just down the road, watch out?

"While we will have some Irish pub things about us, it's really going to be more of a 19th hole golf club restaurant," says Costello. "John McPartlan at Molly Maguire's is a friend of ours. My partner and I are Irish and some of the food is Irish, but it will be more of an American grill than a traditional Irish pub like Molly's. And we’ve always thought the more good restaurants in a good area, the better they all do."

Management at Senorita's also changed hands earlier in the year. The Brians took over the operation overnight three weeks ago, already serving food and working through the transition period on the fly. So far, they have made some interior decor changes and plan to rename the restaurant (it's currently operating as "Hyatt Hills Pub") and change the signage shortly.

They are currently bringing in live entertainment from Thursday to Sunday and offering a Sunday brunch. More changes will come after the golf season, says Costello.

"We believe that this location is a great location not only for townships of Clark and Cranford, but we hope when people come in and have fun and try our food in our environment it will be a destination restaurant that you'd go to a full 12 months of the year," Costello told Patch.

Costello is a Springfield native and lives in Scotch Plains. Walter is from Scotch Plains originally and lives in Fanwood. They are planning for an official grand opening sometime around the end of the summer.
