Patch Needs YOU To Find The Best of Union

When Yogi Berra was in the middle of becoming, well, Yogi Berra, he was asked about a New York City hotspot.

"Nobody goes there anymore," he said, "It's too crowded."

We understand the logic. We think we do, anyway. Everyone loves being in the know about the best places and things, but we are all a little hesitant to let the world in on the secret, because they want to have that special place to themselves. We know the feeling, but with all due respect, it's time to spill the beans.

We know you've got your favorite Union County people, places and things. And we want to spend the summer discovering them. Each week, we will pick a topic and ask you to help us identify the cream of the crop.

We want it all. The best things to eat, drink or wear, the people who go above and beyond, the places that take your breath away. Each week, we'll pick a topic and —together with our crew of roving experts — crown the winners in our respective towns and throughout the county.

What we're asking is simple. Send us your favorites, the best of the best. Comments, letters to the editor, clues on our Facebook pages. We will set out to collect all the votes, investigate.

And remember, play fair. We know when the ballot box is being stuffed, so please be cool about this. One man, one woman, one child? One vote.

So, without further ado, this week's topic: Ice Cream! We've made our annual jump from winter to summer and as the temperatures have spiked, so, too, has our desire for the creamy goodness of a scoop (or three) of our favorite frozen concoctions. So let us know which shop rocks, and we will let you know Friday who captured the top spot.
