Tali's Tasty Tidbits: Paisano's in Watchung

Avital A.'s weekly review of restaurants. This week, she visits Paisano's Restaurant, located on Rt. 22 in the Watchung Square shopping center.

Kid-Friendly Rating     :-)     :-)     :-)     :-)     :-)

Paisanos does have booster seats and high chairs along with friendly pizza-making guys. When I was younger, my Girl Scout troop went there and got a very nice tour. We also made our own personal pizzas. Everyone was welcoming and kind then, and they still are now. I'll give Paisanos five smiley faces.

Not only can you sit down for a lovely Italian meal, but you can also just stop by and for a slice of pizza. My family and I normally do that. There are so many different types of pizza, including my favorites: bacon chicken, chicken parmesan and pasta. My mother's favorite is called "Grandma's," which has fresh mozzarella, basil and garlic. Yummy!

Who doesn't like pizza?  It's the classic birthday party food because you can count on everybody loving it!  Most pasta is also good for picky eaters, so this rating is definitely receiving five smiley faces.

Healthy Rating     :-)     :-)     :-)

For pizza, it's healthy.  Fresh ingredients, not much oil and they just started offering whole wheat crusts. Pizza isn't such a healthy meal, but Paisano's does pretty well with it.  They also offer fresh salads and pasta.

Noisy Rating     :-)     :-)     :-)     :-)     :-)

Paisano's is a quiet restaurant, definitely good for the less noisy type of kid. And as mentioned above, you don't even have to stay: you can grab a couple slices and go. It's that easy.

Kid Entertainment Rating     :-)     :-)     :-)     :-)

Paisano's does not have a kid's menu. You will probably need a restaurant bag (see my last article for a description) if you plan on having a sit-down meal.  But if you are just dropping by for takeout, then no restaurant bag necessary, especially if you're just picking-up pizza – there is usually only a five minute wait while they heat up your slice.
