This Week Ahead: Week of Monday, February 27

Each week, Patch highlights the happenings around town you don't want to miss.

The will hold their annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, February 26, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. $5 gets you in the door and all you can breakfast. All proceeds will be used towards promoting the Rescue Squad and recruiting new members. The Scotch Plains Rescue Squad is an all volunteer, non-profit organization that is of all volunteer service to its community.

Registration for the 2012 spring FYO baseball season is now open.  FYO Little League Baseball is open to residents of Scotch Plains and Fanwood in preschool through ninth grade. Nearly 550 players and their families have the opportunity to enjoy all aspects of youth baseball in a fun and supportive environment. Participants also participate in league outings to see the Somerset Patriots and more. As part of Black History month, The will host a of “Revolution 67,” on Monday, February 27, at 7 p.m. and participate in a discussion with the filmmakers after the film. This award-winning documentary looks at the six-day Newark, N.J. outbreak in July of 1967 that led to 26 dead people, 725 injured, and close to 1,500 arrested.  

The Fanwood Recreation Department will host the Summer Camps Registration Night on Thursday, March 1, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the recreation building. This will be the earliest opportunity for people to register for the Fanwood Recreation Summer Park Program and the Fanwood Recreation Tweens & Teens Travel Camp. Information on other Fanwood summer camps and programs will be available as well. All are welcome.

The in conjunction with the National Association for Excerise Trainers will for fitness professionals on March 3 and March 4. The March 3 workshop will focus on training professionals to utilize the Kettleball in weight training programs. The second workshop will revolve around using Latin dance as a means of staying fit.
