Last-minute holiday shoppers can pick up a wide assortment of gifts all under one roof when Urban Outfitters opens at 10 a.m. today at 154 E. Broad St.
After months of renovations to the building at the corner of Elm and East Broad Streets, which had been vacant for nearly five years, the new space boasts exposed red brick and grey cinder block walls, a stunning glass ceiling and intricate dentil moulding.
With three floors of well-organized and widely eclectic merchandise, ranging from men and women's apparel to vintage furnishings, the international retailer is ready for business and will remain open until 10 p.m.
"We won’t have any specific grand opening specials, but the company is starting a lot of really cool promotional sales this week, which happen to start on Thursday as well," said Jeff Bergeland of Urban Outfitters. "We’re working on some sort of ribbon cutting, but we don’t have the details ironed out yet."
In February, Patch asked readers how they felt about the store coming to downtown Westfield.
Reader Jackie M. responded, "This is fantastic news! Great for the town, neighboring shops, etc. That building has been vacant WAY too long." Fellow reader Laura Busch agreed, writing, "Love Urban outfitters, It is about time this building is used!"
