5 Things: FW Fall Brush Pick-Up, Kids and Food, Summer Arts Festival Finale and More

The events and issues to keep in mind today.

  1. Fanwood's annual fall brush pickup, originally scheduled to start Tuesday, Sept. 6, begins today. Brush and tree limbs must be brought to the curb. They must also be less than four feet in length. The bulk waste removal program begins Sept. 19 as originally scheduled.
  2. If you're still without power, local organizations are offering open kitchens, showers, wi-fi, charging stations for electronic devices and free coffee.
  3. RWJ Rahway Fitness and Wellness Center hosts a lecture titled, "Kids and Food: Building a Healthy Relationship," presented by public health expert Elizabeth Miller. .
  4. Union County's Summer Arts Festival comes to a close tonight with a performance by rock-and-roll band, The Nerds. The program starts at 7:30 p.m. at Oak Ridge Park in Clark.
  5. The Scotch Plains Donor Center of New Jersey Blood Services, located at 2279 South Avenue, hosts a blood drive from 2 to 8:30 p.m. .
