5 Things: Motown, Swing, Doo-Wop and More

The events and issues to keep in mind today.

  1. Join Starbucks baristas for a month-long tour of the world's coffee. This weekly program kicks-off tonight at 7 at the Scotch Plains Public Library. For more information, click here.
  2. Union County's Summer Arts Festival continues with a performance by Dr. K's Motown Revue at Oak Ridge Park in Clark at 7:30 p.m., according to a press release distributed by the county.
  3. If swing's more your thing, Swingadelic performs at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway at 7 p.m. The concert, which is free, will take place on the stage behind the arts center. 
  4. The swing concert coincides with Rahway's "Doo Wop Classic Car Show" which starts at 5 p.m. outside the arts center.
  5. Take a tour of the Ralph Froelich Public Safety Building in Westfield, headquarters of the Union County Police Department, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., as part of the county's "Emergency Preparedness Week." For more information, call the Office of Emergency Management at 908-654-9881.
