5 Things: Rabies Shots in SP, Parenting Workshop, Choral Concert, CPR and More

The events and issues to keep in mind today.

  1. Scotch Plains residents can obtain free rabies shots for their pets this evening at the South Side firehouse, located at the corner of Raritan Road and Martine Avenue. Cats will be vaccinated from 6:30 to 7 p.m., and dogs will be vaccinated from 7 to 8 p.m. All cats must be contained in a "cat carrier" or box and accompanied by an adult able to control the animal, according to the township's website. All dogs must be accompanied by a responsible adult able to control the animal. For more information, call the Scotch Plains Health Department at 908-322-6700, ext. 1-309 or 1-310.
  2. The CHILD organization of Scotch Plains-Fanwood offers a free lecture titled, "Parenting with Respect, Encouragement and Love." The program starts at 7:15 p.m. in the Scotch Plains Television studio, located in the basement of the Municipal Building. .
  3. holds its spring choral concert, starting at 7:30 p.m.
  4. The Fanwood Planning Board meeting scheduled for 7:30 p.m. has been cancelled, according to the borough's website. Fanwood's Shade Tree Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Community House.
  5. Summit Medical Group in Berkeley Heights will review new CPR guidelines issued by the American Red Cross. The class lasts 30 minutes and will teach participants compression-only CPR for adult victims, according to the event listing on Patch. The program starts at 7 p.m., and registration is required. .
