5 Things: Shared Services Meeting, Women's Networking Event, Bereavement Support, Clothing Drive

The events and issues to keep in mind today.

  1. The Scotch Plains Mayor and Township Council hold a special meeting on shared services in follow-up to the public forum that was held March 10. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in the Municipal Building courtroom, go into closed, executive session, then reopen for the discussion on shared services. 
  2. Grillestone Bar and Grill hosts a networking event for women from 6 to 9 p.m. titled "Share Your Stuff." Tickets cost $40, and include a buffet dinner, "mini educational presentations" and a goodie bag, according to the on Patch. Attendees are asked bring enough of their "stuff" to share for 40 women, such as business cards, flyers, giveaways, samples and coupons. To register, call 973-379-3970 or email mmb0123@aol.com.
  3. The JCC of Central New Jersey holds a coaches meeting for coaches involved with the center's Men's Softball League beginning APril 10. The meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. 
  4. The Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, in association with St. Bartholomew the Apostle Parish, introduces a series of weekly bereavement support sessions. Certified facilitators from the Family Life Office of the Archdiocese of Newark will help participants share information, feelings and mutual support in a caring and confidential environment, according to the on Patch. Sessions will be held in IHM's Nazareth Center Lounge, located behind the main church at 1571 Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains. The meetings run from 7:30 to 9 p.m., and are free and open to all.
  5. Westfield High School hosts a clothing drive to benefit impoverished residents of African nations. Drop-off will take place in the rear parking lot of the high school. Email questions to ssoriente@westfieldnjk12.org.
