5 Things: 'Toy Story 3,' SPFYBA Registration, 'Jazz Jam,' and More

The events and issues to keep in mind today.

  1. "Free Movie Night" continues in at 8 p.m. with a screening of "Toy Story 3." Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and bug spray. In the event of rain, the movie will be screened Wednesday.
  2. The Scotch Plains Township Council consolidates its monthly conference and business meetings into a single night tonight. The conference meeting begins at 7 p.m.; the business meeting begins at 8:30 p.m., according to the township's website.
  3. Registration for the 2011 fall season of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Youth Baseball in-town league is open through Aug. 26. Children who were in grades two through five during the 2010-2011 school year may register.
  4. Cool your heels at a weekly "Jazz Jam," hosted by The Crossroads on North Avenue in Garwood. Local acts take the stage at 9 p.m., and admission is free.
  5. The Scotch Plains 9/11 Memorial Foundation is accepting donations for the township's new memorial, which incorporates steel from the World Trade Center. To learn more and to donate, click here.
