5 Things, Weekend Edition: Woodwind Quartet, Woof Walk and More

The events and issues to keep in mind today.

  1. The Plainfield Symphony Woodwind Quintet, New Jersey's oldest community symphony, performs at the Patricia M. Kuran Cultural Arts Center on Saturday. The show runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A donation of $7 is suggested. To reserve seats or learn more, visit www.fanwoodperformanceseries.org.
  2. The Union County College Theater Project hosts the final three performances of "Richard III" on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The shows start at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets cost $25 for members of the general public, and $10 for students. .
  3. Union County College hosts an open house Saturday for its "College for Kids" summer program. The event starts at 10 a.m. .
  4. Children and parents are invited to an "American Girl Tea" in Summit on Saturday for girls ages 7 and older. The event runs from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum. .
  5. The Fanwood-Scotch Plains Rotary Club holds its inaugural Woof Walk on Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. at Alan M. Augustine Park, adjacent to the Scotch Plains Municipal Building. For more information, click here.
