The will present Judith Krall-Russo, a historian, and restaurant consultant, who will speak on the history of cranberries in New Jersey, on Tuesday, May 7 at 7 p.m. This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Fanwood Memorial Library and the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, and pre-registration is suggested. St. Bart’s Academy Hosts Golf Fundraiser May 23

will host a golf fundraiser at the Maplewood Country Club on Monday, May 23. The event starts with an 11:30 a.m. lunch, followed by a 1 p.m. tee-off start and a 6 p.m dinner. Cost for golf participants is $235 each. For those who can only attend the lunch and dinner, the cost is $100 per person. There are also sponsorship opportunities for local businesses. Arts Association Demonstrates Oil Painting Techniques on May 19

The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Arts Association will hold a demonstration of oil painting techniques at it’s May 19 meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. at the on Watson Road in Fanwood. Artist Cynthia Dawley will conduct the demo after a short business meeting. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Paula Pearl at 908-322-2590.

Scotch Plains Town-Wide Garage Sale Registration is Now Open

The Scotch Plains Junior Women’s Club holds its annual Town-Wide Garage Sale on Saturday, June 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a rain date of Sunday, June 5. Residents of Fanwood and Scotch Plains can have their address and items listed on a map of the sales for $15. Residents hold their own garage sales and get to keep all of their own proceeds. To be listed in the map, print the registration form from www.spjwc.com and send a $15 check made payable to SPJWC to P.O. Box 284, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076. All registration forms and checks must be received by Monday, May 23. Proceeds from this event help support local charities.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood Post of the American Legion Seeks New Members

Post 209 of the , representing Scotch Plains-Fanwood, is seeking new members. The post provides advocacy of veteran’s rights, assistance to disabled and needy veterans, support for deployed members of the military and more.
