Blood Center Preview Day Postponed

The center is waiting for inspection.

The new blood center in Scotch Plains won't be open to the public this afternoon, as originally planned.

A representative from New Jersey Blood Services said that the center, which is located at 2279 South Ave., is still waiting to be inspected. Today was supposed to be a preview day for the public to stop by and see the space, which has both blood donation facilities and an art gallery.

The preview day is now tentatively planned for Aug. 14, but that may change if the inspector doesn't make it there by then. The center is sponsored by the New York Blood Center. Its official opening is slated for September.
