Five Things: Poetry Series 2011, Jazz Festival, Pinnocle and More

The events to keep in mind today.

The 2011 Carriage House Poetry Reading Series kicks-off tonight at 8 p.m. with readings from Taylor and Marie-Elizabeth Mali, authors of "Sweet Heart Night" and poetry-slam performers. For more information, click here.

If music's your thing, check out the first night Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School's 14th Annual Jazz Festival, which runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the school's auditorium. Student musicians from eight schools, including the members of three SPFHS jazz ensembles, will perform, according to the event listing posted on Patch. The Feb. 15 lineup includes bands from JP Stevens High School, Bridgewater High School, Alexandria Middle School, SPF Jazz and Jazz Lab. Admission costs $7 for adults, and $5 for students and senior citizens. Click here to learn more. 

Scotch Hills Golf Course on Jerusalem Road in Scotch Plains hosts games of bridge and pinnacle from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those interested in playing do not need to be Scotch Plains residents to participate. To learn more, .
