Five Things: Read Across America Day and a Meeting on Consolidation

The events and issues to keep in mind for today.

  1. Pick up a book! Today is the National Education Association's Read Across America Day.
  2. Barnes & Noble in Springfield is hosting their annual Read Across America event at 5:30 p.m. The event promises guest readers, crafts, games, and much more.
  3. Martin Lemelman, author of the highly-acclaimed 'Mendel's Daughter' and 'Two cents plain,' will be at the Westfield Memorial Library at 7:00 p.m. to discuss his works and his experiences behind his Holocaust memoir. Registration in required; call (908) 789-4090 for more information.
  4. The Pottery Barn Kids Book Club in the Short Hills Mall is holding a special Read Across America story time from 11:00 a.m to 11:30 a.m.
  5. Courage to Connect NJ is hosting a public forum to discuss consolidation of Scotch Plains and Fanwood. The event will be held at Brunner Elementary School at 7:30 p.m.
