Five Things: SP Council, Poetry Series, Cooking with Whole Grains and More

The events and issues to keep in mind today.

  1. The Scotch Plains Township Council holds its monthly business meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the courtroom. Click the PDF thumbnail at right for the agenda. 
  2. The Carriage House Poetry Series continues at 8 p.m. with John Wareham, a psychologist, lecturer, writer and poet from New York. He is the author of "Sonnets for Sinners," "The President's Therapist" and "Chancey on Top." For more information, visit carriagehousepoetryseries.blogspot.com.
  3. The parent workshop "Cultivating Good Discussion and Listening Skills at Home" takes place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at . 
  4. The offers a demonstration titled "Eat, Cook and Learn with a Variety of Whole Grains." The workshop will focus on soups, salads and sides, and will take place at 7 p.m. the YMCA's new kitchen at the Martine Avenue facility. Registration costs $10. For more information, call 908-889-8880. 
  5. The Center for Hope Hospice's "Journey Through Grief" series continues tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Peter M. Shields Administration Building, located at 1900 Raritan Road in Scotch Plains.
