Five Things, Weekend Edition: 'Snow Sundaes,' Lakers at Knicks, Percussion Day and More

The events to keep in mind this weekend.

  1. The invites Scotch Plains and Fanwood residents to make "Snow Sundae" Friday afternoon. The confections will feature vanilla ice cream, and participants can add their own all-white toppings.   2. New Jersey-natives Derrick Caracter and Andrew Bynum return to the tristate area Friday night, when their Los Angeles Lakers take-on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. For links to ticket resales and information about the game broadcast, . 
  3. hosts a "Day of Percussion" on Saturday. Starting at 9 a.m., ensembles from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, Ridge High School, Metuchen High School and Randolph Middle School will perform. Next, at 12:30 p.m., Dennis DeLucia and The Bridgemen Drumline will offer drumming clinics, followed by marimbist Leigh Howard Stevens, and drummers Tommy Igoe and Danny Seraphine. Prizes, giveaways, raffles, vendor merchandise and refreshments will be available through the day. Admission costs $7 for anyone 12 years old and older, and $5 for those younger than 12.   4. Just in time for Valentine's Day, and hold a wine-and-chocolate-pairing tasting on Saturday and Sunday. Those 21 years old and older are invited to sample a wide variety of dessert wines and truffles. The event will take place at The Wine Warehouse, located at 1700 East Second Street in Scotch Plains.
