Flash Flood Watch in Effect

Rain is likely through Thursday night.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for Union County and northeast New Jersey effective through Thursday night, according to an afternoon press release.

It will not rain through the entire period and some areas may not be affected, the weather service reports. However, areas that do experience thunderstorms could see rain falling at one to two inches per hour, which could lead to flooding.

On Thursday, showers and thunderstorms are likely after 3 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Otherwise, skies are expected to remain cloudy with temperatures hovering around 82 degrees.
