Gallery: Senior 'Fun and Fitness Day' in Fanwood

The Chelsea hosts a health fair Tuesday.

The hosted a free information and fitness expo for senior citizens on Tuesday.

Seniors were treated to breakfast prepared by the Chelsea and lunch donated by Two River Community Bank, according to a press release distributed by the borough. Runnells Specialized Hospital and Twin Boro Rehab offered free health screenings, which included measuring participants’ blood pressure, grip and balance. The Union County Division on Aging provided information on free services for seniors. SAGE Eldercare had an expert on the SHIP program and Medicare. There was also information on acupuncture and a tax official from the Borough of Fanwood to explain any tax questions residents might have had.

Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr, council members Russ Huegel and Kathy Mitchell and Fanwood Senior Coordinator Paulette Drogon were on hand to talk further about Fanwood’s programs for seniors, which include a handyman service and the Fanwood Senior Club. Mahr and Huegel are also seeking reelection.
