Halloween Parade and Costume Contest Sunday

The event starts at 5:30 p.m.

The annual Fanwood and Scotch Plains Halloween Parade and Costume Contest returns Sunday evening. The event kicks off at the Fanwood Memorial Library at 5:30 p.m. with "Trunk or Treat," where a slew of surprise treats will await trick-or-treaters, according to a press release distributed by the Fanwood Recreation Commission. Don't be late – the trunks close by 6 p.m.

Children and adults who want to march in the parade should assemble in front of the library by 6 p.m. The parade will depart from there to LaGrande Park at 6:15.

Once the parade arrives at LaGrande Park the Costume Contest will begin for children of all ages. Also, anyone who would like to enter a pumpkin in the Jack-o-Lantern Contest should bring his or her carved creation to the park and fill out an entry form by 6:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes and the best jack-o-lanterns, the press release stated. Free cider, donuts and coffee will be available. The event is presented by the Fanwood Recreation Commission and Scotch Plains Recreation Commission.
