Holiday Decorations Go Up in Scotch Plains

Public works crew are hanging wreaths this week.

The Scotch Plains Public Works Department is adding holiday cheer to the township over the next few days.

Public works crew are out this morning hanging holiday wreaths on the green light posts lining E. Second Street. One of the workers told Patch that they began the job on Monday, hanging the wreaths up and down Park Avenue. Once they're done with E. Second Street, they'll move on to the Village Green, just in time for the township's holiday celebration this Sunday.

Area planters are also looking a little more festive. Sanguiliano Garden Center, Parker Gardens, and Apple Blossom Flower Shop recently donated their time and material to help add some holiday cheer to Scotch Plains. All three businesses donated greens and shrubs for the planters that are found on the sidewalks downtown.

Local businesses have also transformed their windows in recent days to show off their holiday merchandise. Snowmen and nutcrackers are among the decorations welcoming customers into Marion Jewelers & Co. Presents, poinsettias and ornaments fill the windows at WinterHill Antiques.

Fanwood's downtown was transformed just before Thanksgiving. Public works crews were out the week of Nov. 16 hanging holiday wreaths and "Season's Greetings" signs down South and Martine avenues.
