Michael Jackson's Loss Felt in Scotch Plains and Fanwood

One local business and the library say they're shocked by the loss, but that so far no one's rushing in for MJ memorabilia.

The loss of pop superstar Michael Jackson has shocked fans around the world, including here in Scotch Plains and Fanwood.

At the Scotch Plains Music Center on Friday, the death of the music icon has been the main topic of conversation, said Manager Joe Caruso.

"Everybody's shocked," he said. "I'm bummed. It's very saddening."

Still, no one's come in to ask for any Jackson memorabilia so far. Caruso said the store still has most of its Jackson sheet music in stock.

"I'm sure down the road that'll change, though," he said.

One Jackson CD and several books are still on the shelves at the Scotch Plains Library.

Scotch Plains Librarian Jenny Lichtenwalner says that all books about Michael Jackson are still available and that, so far, the only Jackson item checked out is one of his CDs.
