New Entrance Opens at Penn Station

Better access at 31st Street and 7th Avenue should reduce crowding at other entrances, at least temporarily.

On Monday, New York City’s Penn Station travelers may find an easier route between the ticketing concourse and the street.

N.J. Transit Executive Richard Sarles will formally open the new gateway, located at the corner of 31st Street and 7th Avenue.

The entrance is expected to reduce congestion at other Penn Station entrances. The new entrance is fully accessible and includes escalators, an elevator and stairways, in addition to new signage and electronic message boards.

The official opening of the course was scheduled for 8:15 a.m.

Penn Station is the nation’s busiest rail terminal, according to N.J. Transit, and more than 81,000 N.J. Transit customers use the terminal daily.
