One Thing: Hurricane Irene

Mass transit is operating under modified service, and many roads remain closed.

Downed trees, fallen wires and floods continued to force the closure of thoroughfares in Scotch Plains, Fanwood and across the region late Sunday night. Although Union County lifted its state of emergency, which had prohibited non-emergency vehicles from driving on local roads, Gov. Chris Christie urged residents to stay home if they can Monday.

New Jersey Transit and other mass transit agencies announced they will operate under heavily modified schedules and a number of roads will remain shutdown.

For information on mass transit, ; for information on local roads, updated Sunday evening,; for information on the electric utility, also updated Sunday evening, .
