Pets Corner: Meet Jack, the Lab-Pit Mix

Every week, Patch highlights an eligible, adoptable pet in the area.

Patch introduces a new column this week, titled "Pets Corner." Every Saturday, we will highlight a dog, cat or other pet that's up for adoption. The listings are provided by the Plainfield Residents' Association for Animal Rescue. To adopt or to learn more about the featured pet – or any others that are looking for a home – email praar@runbox.com or call 973-868-5939.

For our first installment, we introduce, Jack, a Labrador-Pit Bull mix:

Jack is about two years old, weighs about 50 pounds and is neutered. He is up-to-date on all shots and is also microchipped.

Jack is very people-oriented, and is so ready to please! Nothing makes him happier than to be with people!  He is a sweet boy, and is still going through his “puppy stage,” so he approaches every new experience with highly-energized enthusiasm. With all that energy, he would definitely benefit from a home with a fenced back yard. He love to run around! He also loves car rides, stays in the back, and does well during long rides.  He is fine with most other dogs after he's "sniffed" them out, but does not do well with cats.  He is great with kids and the elderly. Honestly, he's a big goofball!

Jack likes to play ball, and has recently learned to bring it back on command. He also knows sit, lie down, and wait, even with food within eating distance! He is house-broken and has no separation anxiety. His previous owner must have had a good relationship with him, because there is no fear towards people at all. A people-pooch! The impression is that he is a dog who needs training – definitely needs someone who knows how to be the master in a gentle yet resolute manner. Jack would make a great and grateful pet to anyone who decides to become his owner.
