Rain Postpones County's St. Patty's Day Parade

The event has been rescheduled for March 27.

Union County announced Thursday afternoon that its annual St. Patrick's Day parade will not be held this Saturday as originally planned.

Due to the forecast of inclement weather, the parade has been postponed to Saturday, March 27, beginning at 1 p.m. in Union.

While last weekend was sunny and warm, this weekend is shaping up to be full of rain. The National Weather Service says the Scotch Plains-Fanwood area should expect a drizzle to start this evening, followed by heavy rain from Friday through Sunday. We'll likely have received several inches of rain by the end of the storm. Flooding is possible.

In addition to the rain, there may be high winds with gusts up to 45 miles per hour.
