Residents Gather to Remember at Memorial Day Parade

Scotch Plains-Fanwoodians lined Park and Martine avenues for the annual event on Monday.

It was a day to reflect on those who've fought for us in the past, and a time to honor those who currently serve our country at home and abroad.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood residents of all ages gathered along Park and Martine avenues Monday morning for the annual Memorial Day parade. The holiday began early with wreath-laying ceremonies at the Fanwood Memorial Library and the Veterans Memorial in downtown Scotch Plains. The parade followed at 10:45 a.m.

Members of the armed forces, local organizations, community leaders and others marched down Park Avenue in Scotch Plains and into Fanwood. This year's theme was  "Commemorate the Service of All Veterans."
