Severe Storms Cause Power Outage in Parts of Scotch Plains

Residents of Scotch Plains experienced power outages last night, due to overhead wire failure.

Residents of Scotch Plains experienced power outages last night, due to overhead wire failure.

The outage was likely caused by a downed tree resulting from yesterday’s severe storms.  Sections of East 2nd Street and surrounding blocks between Park Avenue and Terrill Road lost power just before 5 p.m.

About 10,000 PSE&G customers statewide lost power yesterday, according a PSE&G press release.

Restoration time for the area was estimated for 9:58 p.m. on the PSE&G hotline. However, power was restored to some residents by 7:00 p.m.

PSE&G representatives were unable to provide any more information on Scotch Plains outages as of last night.
