The Scotch Plains Farmer’s Market officially opens Saturday.
Located in the municipal parking lot at 430 Park Ave., the Scotch Plains Farmer’s Market features fruits and vegetables from three local farmers, and also has products for sell from Amish Bakery, Florence Ravioli and John's Meat Market.
Pickle Licious is the newest vendor featured at the market. Pickle Licious carries garlic soaked pickles straight out of the wooden barrel.
This is the 17th season for the market, and on Saturday, July 11, there will be a grand opening party to celebrate the anniversary. Market manager Lisa Mohn invites the public to enjoy a day filled with music, greenhouse demos and free goodie bags.
Mohn said that by then the market should have a full produce selection.
Although organic produce is all the rage, the Farmer’s Market does not offer it, Mohn said.
“Their [organic farmers] stuff is very pricey,” she said. “We have a great farmer’s market. I always tell people to eat local. Support your local farmers … your local businesses.”
The Scotch Plains Farmer's Market is held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday from June to October.
