Learn First Aid/CPR at Union County College

UCC is now offering CPR and First Aid Certification classes.

The following release was provided by Union County College’s Division of Continuing Education.

CRANFORD – This fall Union County College’s Division of Continuing Education will offer CPR and First Aid classes for healthcare providers as well as for school and community participants. These classes are ideal for those who need CPR certification for their jobs or for anyone interested in learning the essentials of CPR and First Aid. Upon successful completion of these classes students will receive certification through the American Red Cross and the College, which is valid for two years.

The two classes offered are CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Healthcare Providers and First Aid/CPR/AED for Non-rescuers.

The CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Healthcare Providers class is for professional rescuers and healthcare providers combines discussions and video and hands-on training for individuals who respond to emergencies in their job. This course covers how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children, and infants, until more advanced medical personnel are able to take over.

Topics include: Primary assessment, Ventilations (including the use of CPR breathing barriers and the use of BVMs), Choking (including conscious and unconscious), CPR (including one- and two-rescuer), and AED. The price for this six-hour class is $110 and it will be offered on Saturday, October 6, 2012, and again on Saturday, November 3, 2012, from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

The course First Aid/CPR/AED for Non-rescuers is for school and community participants. This course is intended for lay-rescuers, teachers, coaches, babysitters, or anyone else who wants to learn important CPR and First Aid skills. This program combines lecture with emergency scenarios that are likely to occur in a variety of environments, and hands-on training to teach lifesaving skills. The price for this six-hour class is $100 and it will be offered on Saturday, November 17, 2012, and again on Saturday, December 1, 2012, from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

In addition, Union County College can customize a CPR/First Aid class for your business, school, or organization to meet your scheduling needs. Customized classes can be held offsite or at the College’s campus.
