Watchung BJ's Customers May Have Been Exposed to Measles

Customers at the store between 1:30 and 4 p.m. on June 3 advised to contact a doctor.

A person with a confirmed case of measles may have exposed customers and employees to the disease at BJ's Wholesale Club on Route 22 in Watchung.

Bridgewater Township Police issued an alert Thursday about the information that was released by the State Department of Health.

According to the alert, the health department is requesting that anyone who was at the store on June 3 between 1:30 and 4 p.m. contact their doctor.

Measles, the alert said, is a highly contagious viral illness that can cause other serious medical complications with symptoms including rash, high fever, cough, runny nose and watery eyes.

Anyone who has not been vaccinated against measles is at risk if they are exposed because the virus spreads through the air.
