Editor's Notebook: Week in Review

A visit from the U.S. Secretary of Education and high school graduation were the big events of the past week.

Several big events happened locally this week.

It all started on Monday with the visit of U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine to the Fanwood Memorial Library. The two were there to promote a new national summer service initiative and to kick off the library's summer reading program.

On Tuesday, 375 Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School seniors graduated during a special ceremony on the school's football field that was marked by a rainbow. Students shouted "Oh what?!" "09!" throughout the event to show their excitement for their accomplishment.
