Week in Review: The Top Stories in SPF

SPFHS graduation, a fire on Short Hills Lane, and coverage of the Scotch Plains farmers market were among the top stories on Scotch Plains-Fanwood Patch last week.

Nearly an hour and a half after the Scotch Plains Fire Department responded to a residential, fire fighters from Scotch Plains, Clark, Garwood, and Fanwood were still fighting the flames. Scotch Plains Police stated that the cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious. Fire fighters at the scene stated that the fire may have been started by an upstairs fan, however no conclusive resutls have been reached at this time. No one was home at the time of the fire. There were no injuries.

After serving nearly 3,500 patrons from more than 25 communities during the month of April, the from the Fanwood Borough Council in order to pave the property and execute other repairs. Alan Ebersole,  the manager of the recycling center, stated that while other towns received as much as $7,500, he said Fanwood received just $3,000. The shortage of funds has caused the center to put off repairs.
