Winter Weather to Ring in New Year

Snowfall amounts are expected between one and three inches.

We were days away from getting a white Christmas last week, but now a snowy New Year is in store.

The National Weather Service is calling for the Scotch Plains-Fanwood area to see one to three inches of snow by the end of this evening. Low pressure developing off the Carolinas is moving through the Northeast and is expected to bring steady snowfall throughout the day, mixed with rain this afternoon.

The winter weather advisory is only in effect until 6 p.m., so we may or may not see snowflakes falling as the ball drops tonight. But still, the weather has the chance to impact at least a few people's New Year's Eve plans.
