WNYC: Author Discusses Growing Up Black in Fanwood

Thomas Chatteron Williams says the borough was "informally segregated."

Fanwood native Thomas Chatterton Williams was featured on WNYC's "The Leonard Lopate Show" Tuesday to discuss his new book Losing My Cool: How a Father's Love and 15,000 Books Beat Hip-hop Culture.

In the talk, Williams discusses growing up black and in a mixed-race family in Fanwood in the 1980s.
