Polls Getting Busier in Scotch Plains

The polls in Scotch Plains began picking up as 5 p.m. hit.

At the Scotch Plains Library several exiting voters told Patch they came out to vote for Gov. Christie, but most did not have strong opinions about the local candidates.

Voter Hope told Patch she voted for Scotch Plains Council Candidate Llewellyn Jones, saying she didn't know much about him but felt the council needed a more even balance of Democrats and Republicans.

Anthony Roback said he also voted for Jones because he felt he had received more information about him than he had about incumbent Lou Beckerman.

Other voters voiced support for Gov. Christie.

"I like the way he handled recent crises," said one voter, who then "crossed the aisle" to vote for Assemblywoman Linda Stender. "I like her, she's local so I know she has a vested interest here," he added about the former Fanwood Mayor.

Mom Adina Williamson had her young daughter Georgia in tow. "It's important to vote because someone could help make the world safe!" Georgia told Patch.

Poll workers Jan Solondz and Margaret Barry said the day has been busy on and off. "There are a lot of questions and candidates, so it takes some time," Solondz told Patch.
