Chamber Music Workshop Begins June 19th

On four consecutive Thursday nights, beginning June 19th
at 7:15 PM, chamber music will resonate throughout Burgdorff Hall in New
Providence as New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra’s (NJIO) Chamber Music
Workshop gets under way.  The workshop will
provide professional coaching for brass, woodwind, string players and pianists
who would like to participate in a chamber ensemble. Playing chamber music
under the guidance of a coach is an excellent way for musicians to tune up
their technique and expand their repertoire. Chamber music is considered by
many musicians to provide the perfect environment for collaborative music
making. It provides an opportunity for individual musical expression as well as
an intimate way for several musical voices to combine in a in a way that is
larger than each individual. Chamber music can be performed across a wide range
of skill levels ranging from beginners to experienced musicians.  The workshop participants will span all ages.
The musicians will be grouped into several chamber ensembles that are
appropriate for their abilities and instruments. Whether you are a first time or
an experienced chamber musician, this program will provide professional
coaching on exciting chamber repertoire, in a non-competitive atmosphere
provides for making beautiful chamber music.

Marty Steinberg, Principal Cellist with the New Jersey
Intergenerational Orchestra and professional chamber musician will direct the
workshop. Each chamber ensemble will be mentored by professional chamber
coaches. Ensembles for strings, woodwinds, brass and pianists are forming soon.
The registration deadline for the first session is June 12th.  A second session of chamber music runs four consecutive
Thursday evenings beginning July 17th. If you are interested in the second
session, please call for the details.
