AARP Tax-Aide: Free Income Tax Preparation - Make an Appointment Today

AARP Tax-Aide is offering appointments for free income tax return preparation to senior citizens and area residents with low to moderate income, Monday and Tuesday mornings from February 4 to April 15. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) certified volunteer tax preparers conduct the program at The Scotch Plains Public Library, 1927 Bartle Avenue, Scotch Plains. Assistance is provided for federal and state income taxes, and the Property Tax Reimbursement Program (PTR 1 & 2). Tax returns for the current year will be filed electronically.

It is important for the accuracy and completeness of the 2012 tax return that the taxpayers bring all 2012 federal and New Jersey tax forms and a copy of the 2011 federal and state returns. If you receive a pension or annuity, please bring the date that you began to receive payments.

The IRS requires that you present a photo id before we can begin preparing your taxes. Also required are Social Security Cards or comparable documentation for you, your spouse and dependents.
