IHM Sponsors Sandwich-Making for Local Food Pantries

Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish of Scotch Plains has joined forces with one of its own families to offer an opportunity to help those less-fortunate  during the penitential season of Lent. The community is invited to join brothers Billy, Bobby and Ben Root in preparing  sandwiches to be distributed through local food banks to those in need.

This outreach, which began last year, resulted in over 2,900 sandwiches being prepared and distributed in the lead-up to Easter with similar goal in mind for 2013.

The sandwich-making will take place in the Father Byrne Auditorium immediately following Family Stations of the Cross at 4pm on February 22, March 8 and March 22.  Sandwich preparation will generally start at 5pm and continue for about ninety minutes.  Participating families are asked to donate a loaf of bread and three pounds of an appropriate deli meat.
