Dedication of New Garden for Children with Disabilities

Fanwood Mayor Colleen M. Mahr, Fanwood Council President Donna Dolce, Union County Freeholder Bette Jane Kowalski and the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Union County will join with The First Children at Fanwood School to dedicate the school’s new “Little Sprout Garden.”  Made possible by donated materials and labor from more than 40 businesses, the garden was created by Westfield resident and Master Gardener Florence Gramignano, with help from Master Gardeners T.J. Karns of Union and Fred Taylor of Cranford.  The garden will be used by the school’s science and afterschool programs.

A reception and tour of the school will follow the ceremony.  In case of rain, the event will be held inside the school.  For directions call Holly Pedicone, 908-654-2478.

The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Union County are community volunteers affiliated with Rutgers Cooperative Extension, supported in part by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, with headquarters in the County Services Building in Westfield and a large Demonstration Garden at Union County’s Watchung Reservation in Mountainside.  Their mission is to support land stewardship and disseminate research-based information to the public related to gardening and natural resource management.
