Fanwood -Scotch Plains YMCA, "United for a Cause"

Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA along with volunteers from the Diane McGovern Fund are pleased to announce they are joining forces and will host a 5K Run and One Mile Fun Walk/Run to benefit the Diane McGovern Fund on Saturday, April 16th.  The event is a collaboration of the YMCA and volunteers from our local school community and will start and end at the Y located at 1340 Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains.

The One Mile Fun Walk/Run will begin at 8:30 am. A $10 Fun Run Registration Fee will be required to those who want to participate.  The 5K Run begins at 9:15 am.  A $25 5K Registration Fee will apply to interested participants for this run.  Individual donations can also be made to benefit the fund.  There will be a race check in and package pick up for this event being held at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA facility on April 15th from 6:30-8:30 pm.  All registered runners and walkers should pick up their packets on the 15th during the scheduled time.   

The Diane McGovern Fund is a fund to help a Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School teacher find some financial relief from insurmountable medical expenses as she continues to battle with inflammatory breast cancer (IBC).

Interested participants can register for this great cause online at www.dianemcgovernfund.com or by visiting Member Services at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA no later than April 1st to secure a t-shirt for the event.  Registration will also take place at the Y facility.  Late registration will be held at 7:30 am the day of the event.  Please contact Sheri Cognetti, Senior Program Director, Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA at (908) 889-8880 or email Sheri at scognetti@fanwoodscotchplainsymca.org with any questions.
