The Fanwood-Scotch Plains Community of Girl Scouts will hold an informational meeting for adults and girls interested in joining the Girl Scouts on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria of Terrill Middle School (1301 Terrill Road, Scotch Plains).

Kindergarten and first-grade girls can join Daisy Girl Scouts. Older girls can join one of more than 90 Fanwood-Scotch Plains Girl Scout troops, which span from kindergarten through high school.

To form new troops, especially at the Daisy level, the community needs adults to volunteer as leaders, co-leaders, and assistants. Free training is provided for all adult volunteers, and ongoing support is abundantly available. Volunteers are also needed to help with short-term projects at the community level, such as fun events, badge workshops and cookie sales.

Girl Scouts are always looking for guest speakers, ranging from senior citizens who can share their life experiences, to executives who can share their business sense, to homemakers who can share their skills. Girl Scout badges include every interest area from aviation to zoology.

Fanwood-Scotch Plains is part of the Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey Council, which covers 7 counties across central New Jersey.
