Open House for their Summer Academy for Performing Arts - JCC of Central NJ and UCVTS

The Summer Academy for Performing Arts (SAPA) is hosting an Open House at the Union County Vocational Technical School (UCVTS) campus at 1776 Raritan Road in Scotch Plains on Monday, January 30, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. for parents and campers.

SAPA, in its second year, will continue to offer high-level, professional performing arts instruction for all children entering grades 5 – 8.

SAPA is a partnership between the JCC’s Camp Yachad in Scotch Plains and the UCVTS Academy for Performing Arts; it combines the expertise and facilities of the UCVTS Academy for Performing Arts and Camp Yachad’s 20 years of programming excellence and well trained, experienced staff.

At SAPA, campers learn skills, techniques and repertoire in dance and theatre arts from the Academy's top-notch professionals.  In addition, the campers will have access to the Academy's black box theatre, dressing rooms, dance and acting studios and their Project Adventure course. 

This year, there are two two-week sessions offered: Monday, July 9 - Friday, July 20 and Monday, July 23 - Friday, August 3.  Both sessions will be at the Academy’s facility.  Door-to-door transportation and daily lunch are provided.

The JCC of Central NJ’s Camp Yachad is located in Scotch Plains and has been in operation since 1992.  It currently has both traditional day and travel camp options for children 18 months to 14 years.

The UCVTS campus, also located in Scotch Plains, serves grades 9-12 in Union County.  The district is comprised of five individual schools.   Students from every municipality in Union County are eligible to apply, but must qualify to enter any of the programs which offer high-end academics, college-level training and professional preparation.
