Scotch Plains Fanwood Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?" Martin Luther King, Jr.

Join us for the 2nd annual Scotch Plains Fanwood MLK Day of Service on Januray 17, 2011. The King Day of Service is the only Federal holiday observed as a national day of service- a "day on, not a day off." If you have been looking for ways to teach your family the importance of helping others, this Day of Service is an easy introduction or perhaps an ongoing tradition.

Our inaugural event in 2010 drew more than 500 volunteers and featured dozens of activities.

Active participation in the MLK Day of Service presents a unique opportunity for all ages to gather for a day of community service. Volunteering is a great way to give back, not only to your community, but to yourself as well. Service to others has been proven to boost one's mental and physical well-being. Take the opportunity with this day off from school and work to teach your family why we must all help one another.  "Everyone can be great because everyone can serve."   Martin Luther King, Jr.

Please check back here for registration for participating organizations beginning on November 20,2010 and registration for individuals and groups beginning December 20,2010.
