"Special Needs Teen Night Out", January 6, 2012 - Fanwood/Scotch Plains YMCA

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is pleased to announce they have partnered together with Autism Family Times With Brianna, Inc. to sponsor a monthly “Special Needs Teen Night Out.”  This event will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Y.  The theme for the January event will be “Summer in Winter.”  Teens will swim and enjoy pizza together.

Children with special needs (ages 3 – 12) have many opportunities for socialization but teens with special needs have very few options.  Understanding the situation for socializing for special needs teens (ages 13+), the two have come together to sponsor this event which will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Y.  The theme for the January event will be “Summer in Winter.”  Teens will swim and enjoy pizza together.

Families of special needs children ages 13-18 are invited to join the Y Staff, Autism Family Times with Brianna and Peer Mentors for a night of music, dancing, snacks, board games, winter crafts and fun times!  Special Needs Teen Night at the Y will provide an outlet for this older age group to enjoy a safe and supervised social activity.
