Dave Luciano, a social studies teacher and recruitment director at Union Catholic Regional High School in Scotch Plains, NJ was voted the 33rd Grand Knight in the Regina Pacis Knights of Columbus Council #4066 out of Maplewood, NJ on July 29.
The Maplewood-based council consists of Luciano as grand knight, Union Catholic religion teacher and campus minister John Becht as deputy grand knight, Union Catholic Assistant Principal Dr. Jim Reagan, Jr. as warden, and Tom Becht as chancellor.
A member since he was 18, Luciano has been very involved with the Knights of Columbus from a young age.
He is the first third generation grand knight ever to appear in his council, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Joe Luciano, and his father, Gary Luciano.
Joe Luciano, who passed away in 2007, was a former state deputy, heading the Knights of Columbus in the state of New Jersey.
Each officer is inducted by a person of his choice, and Dave Luciano chose to be inducted by his grandmother, representing the profound effect his grandfather had on his role in the Knights of Columbus.
Luciano, along with the other members of his council, will serve a two-year term.
He is excited and proud to be able to keep his family’s name going in the council and to have his good friends by his side as members of his council.
