The Annual Photo Contest, sponsored by Unity Bank, will be judged on Friday September 28, 2012 at the Patricia Kuran Cultural Arts Center and winners to be announced at Fanny Wood Day.

Live music is a large part of Fanny Wood Day, and the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School’s “Cabaret Troupe” is a student-run club consisting of talented teenagers from SPFHS’ award-winning vocal programs. The group was founded to give local singers the opportunity to perform songs of their choosing through community service performances. Selections range from Broadway show tunes and songs from the Great American Songbook to current pop hits.

The hottest teen pop duo, DIVERSE will also be performing. This pop duo has performed since a very young age in off Broadway, television, movies, and commercials. Now Zachary, age 18 and Eddie, age 19, have truly emerged as great singers/songwriters and entertainers whose talents are being recognized throughout the country, as well as internationally.

Residents can enjoy various food contests, including an ice cream eating contest sponsored by the Double Dipper, a pizza eating contest sponsored by Nick’s Pizza and a pretzel eating contest sponsored by Flannery’s.

Other contests include a Hula Hoop contest sponsored by Club West, a water balloon toss sponsored by Provident Bank and a Best Dressed Pet Parade sponsored by K-9 Resorts.

“The great thing about Fanny Wood Day is that it’s more than just a street fair and we encourage everyone to join us for this great hometown experience,” said Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr.

Fanny Wood Day will be held at the corner of Martine Avenue and South Avenue in downtown Fanwood, beginning at 11 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m.
