Fanwood Holiday Toy Drive Starts Today

A giving tree with ornaments for each child will be located outside of Borough Hall on Tuesday.

The Fanwood Police Department is coordinating a holiday gift donation for the Parents as Teachers program in Union County.

A giving tree with ornaments for each child will be located outside of Borough Hall on Tuesday. To participate, please take and ornament and return the unwrapped gift (with the tag attached) by Friday, Dec. 13 to either the Fanwood Police Department (ask for Dianne) or bring it to Borough Hall.

The Parents as Teachers home visitation program provides services to 60 families in Union County. The anticipated goals for the program are improved pregnancy outcomes, increased parent involvement in children’s care and education, improved child health and development, prevention of child abuse and neglect and increased school readiness.

"I should point out that the gift in many cases will be the only gift under the tree for the child," says Dianne Howarth, assistant to Chief Richard Trigo.
